Cluedo The Nostalgia Edition - 2003

Following the success of the retro Clue game in America, Parker Brother's Nostalgia Game Series has come out with a retro Cluedo based on the 1949 Cluedo game. The box has been stylishly updated to include the suspect cards on what has always been a very plain looking black and white box (changed to green and white for this edition). Inside, the Cluedo logo that appears on the box now appears on the solution envelope which previously read "Murder Cards", the notepad, which has been changed to the more modern check-box variation and even a set of six pencils. The playing pawns are made of wood very much in the style of the original version of the game, but the weapon tokens seem to come straight from the more modern editions. The candlestick is smaller, the knife is sheathed, the lead pipe is no longer bendable, the revolver is just that, the spanner/wrench is a monkey wrench, and the rope is plastic instead of actual string. These new weapon tokens do not even match the cards. Aside from that disappointment, the game is a nice edition, but given the fact that the gameboard and playing cards of the original Cluedo hardly changed over the decades, there is not much here that many Cluedo game players haven't seen before.
