Order of TheArtOfMurder Ranks?

Post by fendue »

Hi, I'm wondering what all the Artofmurder ranks are, i.e. suspect, gumshoe, etc. in order and how much you need to post to get there. Thanks!

I'm curious as to where that information might be posted as well.
(Currently I'm a "Spy".)

I've decided to wing it and try and figure this out myself by clicking on the "Members" link towards the bottom of the page and then putting members in order by the number of posts they have.

Members with 1 - 24 posts are a "Suspect"
(NOTE: Not sure if your 25th post moves you to the next rank or if you have to wait until your 26th post.)

Members with 26 - 74 posts are a "Snoop"
(NOTE: Not sure if your 75th post moves you to the next rank or if you have to wait until your 76th post.)

Members with 77 - 149 posts are a "Spy"
(Though Tum, an Administrator with 100 posts, is labeled as an "Accomplice".)

Members with 156 - 212 posts are a "Gumshoe"
(However, PoirotMarlowe304 with 187 posts is labeled as a "Menace to Society")

User Whodunit, with 226 posts, is listed as a "Crime-Scene Investigator"

Members with 268 - 375 posts are a "Sleuth"
(Yet Cluedofan with 332 posts is an "Expert Witness", while Sir Shamrock who also has 332 posts is merely a "Sleuth".)

We have members with 446 and with 477 psts who are both listed as "Private Eye"

A member with 570 posts is an "Investigator"

A member with 594 posts is labeled a "Special Investigator"

A member with 737 posts is labeled as a "Junior Detective"

Members with 750 - 939 posts were all labeled as a "Detective"

We have three members with 1523 posts, with 1755 posts, and with 1964 posts who each are labeled "Master Detective".

There are quite a few single entries for thing like "Missing Person" (1027 posts); "Senior Detective" (1122 posts); "Hawkshaw" (1282 posts); "Crime Lab Scientist" (1444 posts); "Forensics Expert" (1528 posts); "Can Opener" (1644 posts); "Biometrics Examiner" (1662 posts); "Informant" (1860 posts); and a bunch of other ranks that may-or-may-not be generated by the system.

There’s a story behind the “missing person” rank...I think.

Well, we'd (or at least "I'd") like to hear it . . .

Yes way back when I came up with special ranks for individuals who were top contributors. I can’t remember who is the missing person but I’m sure they were one of them who all of a sudden stopped posting. Nefarious reasons or not... it’s a mystery!
How do you know what kind of pictures they are if you're such a lay-dee?

Well, Depboy is the one who is listed as "Missing Person" in terms of rank, so I was sorta hoping Depboy knew the answer behind it . . . but I guess you answered it as well.

Now I wonder how munitzer achieved the rank of "Can Opener" (which is slang for a tool to pry open a safe).

Perhaps after a couple more posts you'll move from "Investigator" to "Special Investigator"?

(I'm only guessing that because at the moment, your rank is shown as "Investigator" with 574 posts, but there's a member named ProfessorPlum54 who's a "Special Investigator" with 594 posts.)
