Dollhouse---An Upcoming Project

Post by cacums »

Ok this is probably just a dream and will never come true, but it might...

STORY

I have dreamt of being an architect since I was nine and still want to be one. I have drawn multiple floor plans to pass the time, but this is the first major step I've taken.

THE PLAN

I plan to build a dollhouse, I am all but done with the blue prints and will post them here. If the dollhouse is actually worked on, I'll post Pictures of our progress.

CREW

Me-----------------------Designing and Building
My Mother---------------Room Decorating
My Dad-------------------Building Costs
My Brothers--------------Assisting me in building
My Best Friend (Sam)----Assising my mom in designing (she loves remodeling)

So We plan to get started once we go to the craft store and pick up our first piece of wood

DETAILS

The dollhouse will be like a U with a courtyard in the middle of the U. The exterior walls will open on hinges, revealing the inside. The style will be old fashion 1920s look. There will be 22 rooms (including stairwells and bathrooms)

FIRST FLOOR

Hall
Spiral Staircase (in a 5x4 room that will go up four stories)
Drawing Room
Secret Room (accessible off the drawing room)
Dining Room
Kitchen
Billiard Room
Library
(Courtyard accessible off the drawing room)

SECOND FLOOR

Hall
Spiral Staircase (in a 5x4 room that will go up four stories)
Powder Room
Master Bedroom (burgundy)
Master Bathroom
Blue Bedroom
Balcony (above the kitchen)
Study
Yellow Bedroom

ATTIC

Attic
Spiral Staircase (in a 5x4 room that will go up four stories)

ROOF

Rooftop Garden
Spiral Staircase (in a 5x4 room that will go up four stories)

More details later......

Thank you :)

I'm all but finished with the layout.

Meanwhile, here's a sneak peek at the layout and mansion...

I remember when I was little, I was obsessed with having a doll house of my own. Not so much the dolls, but the houe itself. Of course being a boy, my parents were dead set against buying me one. Eventually, my mom bought one on sale and I played with that thing everyday for years, all the while enduring my sisters constant nagging that I would "grow up to be g@y". Little did she know then, she would be right. She never lets me live that down..."I told you that doll house would make you queer." LOL If only she knew that I knew I was g@y even back then.

My mom really doesn't mind but my dad hates the idea, but I told him it's going to help me be an architect when I get older. :)

The only thing I don't like is that everyone has to go through the 1st bedroom to get to the study and second bedroom on the second floor. It's a little odd.

Was it Miss Scarlet with the Candlestick in the Ballroom? Yes... yes it was.

I was thinking about that yesterday and was trying to modify it but my mom brought to my attention that very rarely in dollhouses do you not have to walk through a Bedroom (or Bathroom for the matter) to get to another room, My other option was switching it's place with the Library... but I think I'm going to leave it for now, I could always change it before I do flooring and wallpaper...

I would do that. You could even make it the servants bedroom.

I would then also make the billiard room the library and the weird bedroom the billiard room which is often found on the upper level of old mansions.
How do you know what kind of pictures they are if you're such a lay-dee?

Alright, we've got two boards, one for the base and we are going to split one in two for the Attic and roof

Since this has been neglected and abused, and the boards are just laying against the wall in the upstairs hall (hehe, that rhymed) it is not happening. :(

Though I'm probably going to get the inspiration again later.........

Overall it's very nice.

But I HATE that there is some obscure bedroom on the ground floor, yet the billiard room is on the upper floor. I don't know, but it's decisions like those that make me think, "What the ***** were they thinking?"

EDIT: Looking back, I see Michael suggested it, but just from looking at the floorplan, the choice looks terribly odd.
