Laura Bow and the Mechanical Codex
Re: Laura Bow and the Mechanical Codex
The original Laura Bow games were definitely a unique experience. I vaguely recall a few detective games before then with a continual series of events spread across multiple locations, but the names are long forgotten. It's a real shame the new version didn't pan out. Their Laura looks fabulous. They could have just dropped the licensed name like so many other indie studios had done and moved forward anyway.

STILL IN THE WORKS!!!
Actually, the game is still in development from the looks of it.
The studio even posted a brief gameplay teaser:

Re: Laura Bow and the Mechanical Codex
Not Laura related, but still related to Sierra:
In Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don't Dry, there's a character that really close to Laura Bow:

I'm sorry, what was the name of the episode?!

Re: Laura Bow and the Mechanical Codex
If you're referring to the Leisure Suit Larry post, don't forget that franchise dates back to the days when AOL was popular, and the game-theme itself can be a tad ... risqué.

Looking pretty good!
I've played many Sierra games and know most of them inside-out. In fact I made quite a large number of game scripts from the original subtitle files. I also did this for The Colonel's Bequest and Dagger Of Amon Ra.
As pure detective goes I had my issues with both games but their mechanics are very intriguing - not to mention there is a LOT of material written for it that you're not likely to access unless you are any good with the parser in TCB, or very quick and lucky in DOAR. TCB is a bit of a struggle with vocabulary - you will find a lot of content that wasn't used previously.
If you're interested in them, they are stored in several places, among them here:

Hurray!
For the fans of Colonel's Bequest - I recently remade my script and managed to finish the game and make screenshots of every notable incident (finally finding a certain corpse in a certain location was the highlight).
Playing the game you may notice it's... fiddly? The game has a lot of things going on and would have been very complex to program at the time, with people moving around and stuff. This has carried on in the way the scoring works.
Unlike other Sierra games, TCB doesn't show you your "score" until the very end, so you don't get much feedback through the game on how your scoring is. Turns out the complex programming is so riddled with little bugs that it's not what you think it is what makes you SuperSleuth!

Another cool blog by the same author on TCB is about a copy protection bypass hack that has become quite wide-spread - and that means the random number generator gets messed up and only has one output, namely 0. In a game with over 400 random actions, the results are mind-blowing:
