My Clue and Cluedo collection
My Clue and Cluedo collection
Hey everyone,
Long time creeper, first time poster. I was just doing a re-arrange the other day and thought I’d share the collection. I’ve actually been collecting for almost 30 years. Let me know what you think!

Re: My Clue and Cluedo collection
Very nice.
What exactly are the large discs? Are those record albums, or laser discs of the movie? The artwork on the inside is fantastic.
And I’d love it if your post some pictures and dimensions of the Franklin Mint table. I’ll post the link to the thread where we’ve been trying to figure it out for years!

What I think I find the most interesting about your collection from the way you’ve organized it on the shelves, is that the original games, representing the first 4 decades of games, occupy only two storage bins on the lowest level, while the games from he last 4 decades fill the rest of the shelves. I realize there are a lot of foreign editions as well, but by and large there has been an explosion of editions since the 1980s. Amazing to see it this way.

Re: My Clue and Cluedo collection
Those large disks are records of the soundtrack. They released a collective set with seven colour choices of the record based on the suspect colours. However, I can see their set is incomplete; they are missing the white one!

Re: My Clue and Cluedo collection
Wait, what? You mean this is the LaLaLand Release of the original John Morris Soundtrack on vinyl that we discussed here:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4040
Why on earth was it never mentioned that there was going to be collectable vinyl?
EDIT: Oops, I see the last post in that thread mentions the Mondo release several years earlier. I'm just surprised Michael doesn't have it on his site. I never knew it existed before the La La Land release.
Re: My Clue and Cluedo collection
Something else I've noticed too..
Doesn't it seem there is very little promo material of Martin Mull? Was he simply not available for extra shoots? On the DVD cover, he is the only one who is clearly a photoshopped image of him in the study with a wrench not identical to the movie's. This is surprising because there does exist a promo shot of Col. Mustard wielding the movie wrench in the kitchen, and the only place I've seen it is from a distance in the 1986 Starlog article on the movie (Michael if you should scan a full-sized hi-resolution image of the page, that would be great.
). This must have not been a commonly circulated image, which is a shame as the other characters and their "weapon poses" are featured so prominently.

The bottom left section contains just first edition versions of Clue and Cluedo. But yeah, most of the versions are relatively recent. You can see some older versions (Super Cluedo Challenge, Passport to Murder, Super Sleuth, and the Master Detective and the Great Museum Caper) scattered throughout.

Re: My Clue and Cluedo collection
Well ****! Color me impressed. You’ll be sure to let us know if you ever need to downsize/offload duplicate editions, won’t you?
Also, I’m absolutely livid at myself for letting that vinyl soundtrack release slip past me unnoticed! I wouldn’t need every color, but to even get my hands on one copy just to display that artwork would be amazing.
*sigh* Time to dig through eBay & lake friends at local record shops, I suppose.

Re: My Clue and Cluedo collection
Amazing Collection!! You've got quite a few first editions! Nice
I'm currently rebuilding my collection from the bottom up due to poor condition/missing parts and certain spiteful family members going through my stuff and taking/selling/throwing away whatever (ah well
). But I hope to one day build a proud display. You've inspired me to start collecting again.
I managed to save us 1972, us 1986, MD, Super Sleuth, us 1996, uk 2000, us 2002, PTM, FX, Mysteries, DVD, and both VCR games. But I lost my 1950 and SCC in a car accident. They were in my trunk which was very VERY crushed. Bad luck, but I'm still kicking, so I'll keep building.
Currently waiting on my first European one to arrive in the mail. I ordered a German edition which features the VCR characters styled after the 1972 Box Cover. I'm not sure the year, but it is sealed.

That sucks about losing your games. But thankfully eBay exists to fulfill all our collecting needs!cacums wrote: ↑Fri Aug 31, 2018 5:48 am Amazing Collection!! You've got quite a few first editions! Nice
