Clue Dungeons & Dragons 2-6 players?

I bought the Clue Dungeons and Dragons at Barnes & Noble, & its under the new The Classic mystery game. The box says its for 2-6 players, but the rules doesn't mention the 2 player addition just the "monster" rules. So should I play with the new 2 player rules or by what it says in the original rules?
But it is dark upstairs and I am frightened of the dark. Will anyone go with me?
