Clue Game in Black & White

Post by Poirotfrmda818 »

My newest idea for a Clue game. There will be room tiles like in Super Sleuth only without squares. I think 10 suspects, 10 weapons, and 10 rooms should be nice. Also, I want the game to be in Black & White, like the Alfred Hitchcock game. I made a sample room just to show what I intend.

Just moving along. I started to think about what I want to do about the cards. I thought Classic Hollywood would fit nicely. Unfortunately, I know nothing about classic Hollywood so after some Google research and extensive Photobucketing, I came up with this:

I tried to give the card the classic film look with a film strip. (I'm open to font suggestions)

Thumbs Up or Down?

Could use just a little touch of colour in my opinion. Otherwise, nice picture.

Nothing extreme. A subtle border or underline would work.

I think making the room borders red like the Hitchcock edition would be nice.
Was it Miss Scarlet with the Candlestick in the Ballroom? Yes... yes it was.

Red Room boards are a good idea.

How about these:

I cheated on Mustard as I used Connery in modern times.

And who can resist Lucille Ball?

Love them all, except surprisingly Mustard. He doesn't look stoic, military-like, or even a slightly inept officer. He looks like a greasy Gino.

I like them all so far, though I agree about Mustard. I do love Green, however.

For the Colonel, might I recommend C. Aubrey Smith? He's Mustard in my signature banner.

Agreed. I couldn't find a better picture. I might change him later.

Anyways, I introduce Mrs. Peacock:

Looks great to me.

I'm wondering now though, what's your story behind Scarlet? She looks a little wild Western compared to the rest.

I haven't really thought about back stories yet, but I suppose she could be an actress and that could be her costume.

It's all very good. You have great eye for visual casting choices.

This is just from an artist's viewpoint, and while I like the Marlene Dietrich-esque character, I think I would have liked to see Mme. Rose, or at least a pink-toned character. Just as well, I love Mme. Rose in general.

Also, is it just me, but do Green and Grey feel awfully similar? I mean, I guess it's alright to have two smarmy, mysterious, self-assured looking chaps with slicked black hair.

I love all of the actors you chose, but I'm not sure they're right for Clue. For example, Katharine Hepburn is a personal favorite, but is she really a Scarlet type? She doesn't exactly ooze sexuality. Also, Connery and Bacall stick out because they're pictures are MUCH more recent. I'm undecided on how I feel about Ball as White and Bergman as Peach. Like I said, I love all the actors you've chosen, I just don't see them as those characters.

I love Tyronne Power as Green. In fact I think I suggested him for Green years ago for some other project around here. Dietrich is an good choice, but I'd change the color. Not to something pink, however. I think she works as a darker color, but Ebony isn't really a German word, is it? Niven as Brunette and Mason as Plum are great. And Cary Grant looks good too as Sir Grey.
