Scooby-Doo! #118 (2007) “Whodunit”

Post by Jonathan Green »

Here’s something interesting. On May 2007, in issue #118 of DC Comics’ “Scooby-Doo!”, they did a Clue-inspired story called “Whodunit”.

Mrs. Pavo is a great name. Literally Peacock without saying it.

Had someone used that name on this forum before? I think it may be used in a foreign edition.

My favorite names are the ones that seem like legit names, with a meaning that evokes colors, or purpose and function. The brilliance of the original game is that they were not all green, white, scarlet, but plum, peacock, and mustard. The first spinoffs followed suit effectively — brown, brunette, peach, rose, gray, and slate-grey. I think the Waddingtons folks got cold feet with Mr. Slate-Grey — Mr. Slate would have been just fine, but they evidently thought people wouldn’t get it?

I like the character interpretations. Frau Wiess is a good way to take Mrs. White out of the domestic role that was criticism for the 2016 edition and still retain her as white. She reminds me of Jayne Eastwood's secretary character in the Rocky Horror tv remake.

I think Mr. Slate... it lacks punch. Making it hyphenated like that, it makes it interesting. Though my feelings on him change with the tides :D

Frau Weiss is definitely my favorite of these off-brand versions. I like that everyone else gives an explanation, but Frau Weiss doesn't bother. She was just standing in the kitchen looking evil with rope. Big mood

So the Captain said the revolver he found in the Ballroom was a Nettleton Colt, so I looked it up. This is a Nettleton Colt:

Looking how Mystery Inc. is dressed, it’s in the “What’s New Scooby Doo” universe.
Look at Fred’s outfit:
