Tudor/Classic get the heaviest rotation from me, but my favorite overall theme has to be Murder Express. It’s a fun board to throw almost any combination of characters into, and I love the entirety of that 9-part suspect lineup.
Why no love for the Egyptian dig theme? Or just an oversight when you set up the poll?
Which is the best Marmalade theme?

Oh I doubt it’s anyone’s favorite theme
It’s nice, but I’m salty that’s when they dropped the ball on sculpting custom playing pieces & just recycling existing models.

You mean a re-colored Scarlett piece for Peacock, a Duchess Orchid piece for Meadowbrook, etc.?
Re: Which is the best Marmalade theme?
Out of curiosity, what do you guys think is the WORST Marmalade theme?
Personally, I can find something to enjoy in all of them, but that cruise theme was such a disappointing way to end it. Pretty backgrounds can't make up for just how vapid and boring the characters are, in terms of design and personality. Lemme see what I can come up with quickly...
-Miss Scarlet, mole sent to break into Boddy's personal files, steal deed and find any dark dealings, and ultimately abotage event
-Captain Brown, salty old captain driven to drink by a bloody accident Boddy helped him cover up.
-Mrs. White, expat retiree whose home will be destroyed due to Boddy's moneygrubbing, forced way onboard to try and plead with him
-Reverend Green, former preacher and beloved southern soul singer nearly killed by Scarlet's sabotage, suspects and fears Boddy
-Dr. Orchid, furious island native and environmentalist Boddy only invited as a cynical photo-op
-Professor Plum, conman posing as intellectual to give Boddy's plan credence, slimy fugitive Boddy's been hiding from police and blackmailing for years
That's like ten minutes of rough drafting. It feels like they just phoned the theme in completely. It would've been so easy to make it work.

Stop winking at me, you oversexed Frenchman!

Unfortunately there was no way they were going to use Captain Brown, as much as I would have loved that... although, maybe, they could have merged him with Brunette...
Re: Which is the best Marmalade theme?
I haven't played the Marmalade games. Players can't choose 6 weapons from different themes right?

No, each theme has it’s own weapons, so you can’t mix-n-match
Re: Which is the best Marmalade theme?
I'm annoyed one can't mix the weapons. I think that's a missed oppertunity by Marmalade.Jonathan Green wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 3:57 pm No, each theme has it’s own weapons, so you can’t mix-n-match

There’s a reason why. In order to play with others online, there needs to be consistency across the themes, so each player can chose their own themes. There is consistency between room layout to allow a player to move into a particular location and have it reflect the proper theme for everyone viewing. Characters are irrelevant. So that leaves weapons. The only way to retain consistency between themes would be to have the weapons selectable in the same order for each theme. One could mix and match say the first weapon from from each theme, but not the 6the weapon of one theme and the 6the weapon of another. The charts I’ve created show how he se don’t always line up with the same kind of weapon either. While I agree this Kind of limited assignment would be better than nothing, it might lead to confusion when assigning weapons at the start of a game.zhat wrote: ↑Tue Jul 28, 2020 4:20 pmI'm annoyed one can't mix the weapons. More importantly, during COVID-19, why hasn’t Marmalade been engaged in providing new themes for a game that’s taken on a huge amount importance during this isolation ...?

Or at the very least make playing pieces that match the characters in each theme instead of reusing the Tudor pieces. It's really distracting for me. Also, when I play online with friends, the randomly generated suspects don't even match the theme of the board or the theme of the chosen suspects by the players. They should at least match the board or come from sets that players chose characters from.Murder by Death wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2020 4:41 pmThere’s a reason why.
