Finally back to writing!

Post by cacums » Tue Mar 06, 2018 2:10 pm

I took some time to really dig deep into the Clue story that I want to tell. In the past, I've found myself writing Clue stories simply to hit all the cliches and board game story-arcs.

This time I'm writing something entirely different. I'm writing a story that appeals to the child in me that fell in love with Clue. The story will be wild and exceed some limits, but hopefully, it will be as much fun to read as it has been working on and planning out for the better part of the past two years.

I've revamped and rewrote, re-edited, and trashed ideas. But I think it's time to let my pet project out of its cage and into the hands of anyone who will take it.

I remember when I was 12 I discovered Depboy's wonderful Ongoing Internet Story. It hooked me from the minute I started reading. I would race home every day after school like a kid running to the comic store. The stories always had me craving more and rereading the classic episodes (Manor of Murders 8)). So I'd like to peronally thank you, David, for inspiring me to write about these colorful, crazy characters!! You will always be welcomed to join in on this project if you ever want to re-enter the mansion and explore the world of Clue.

I also remember racing to the forum to see the wonderful artwork from our very own CluedoKid. His games and fanart always managed to capture the essence of Clue that so many games failed to capture. His attention to detail and personality his hands can bring to the characters are what makes my story possible. I used to have writer's block every other day, but seeing how he's brought my story to life fills my heart with excitement for all the ideas I have planned!

Not 100% on the title, but here we are: The Clue Saga

Hear, hear.

Also, I wish there was a Cluedo board version based on the British TV series using weapons from those series, etc.

Thanks! I'm having a lot of fun with this. I hope you enjoy!

Episode 2 is out!

I've put the episodes in descending order in the drop-down on the "Story" tab. Let me know if ascending order would be preferred. I figure latest episode on top would be the way to go :)

The next four parts will come out all around the same time. I'm trying to write them all together since the bodies will start to pile up and the "who-is-where" will be one of the factors in solving the mystery :)

Progress: Parts 1 & 2 are Completed. Part 3 is 1/4 completed.

Episode 11 should be out shortly. And if my schedule doesn't change up too terribly, I should be posting at least one episode a week!

I already have the story-arcs planned out for the next 13-20 episodes (still need to tie up 21-24). I'll finish the Season structure this week and start writing Season 2 the following week. So there may be a week off between episodes. Overall I'm aiming for an Episode a week. Usually Saturday or Sunday.

In the meantime I'll leave with a teaser of the titles for next Season

#13-16 "We Must Begin Again" Parts 1-4
#17-20 "The Curtain Will Rise" Parts 1-4
#21-24 "Skeletons in our Closets" Parts 1-4

AND here are some new characters that we'll meet at the Hotel.

I think most of us can recognize Mr. Cerise from the Marmalade Hollywood Clue pack. ;)

Wow you are being quite prolific! Congrats. I need a vacation so I can binge on all this (Netflix has ruined me).

You've got the makings of your own Clue knock-off game there!! Haha

Do to some mostly positive but mixed reviews from my long-time readers:

Please, don't be discouraged about the odd, open ending of Season 1. The killer wasn't captured/revealed at the end of Season 1 because the that same suspect will commit several murders in Season 2. Season 1 was the introduction to the characters. Season 1 was long and slow because I was still putting all the pieces on the board. Now the pieces are there, the characters are established, and the game can begin.

Initially (to those I talked to privately) Season 1 was to be 20 Episodes long and the investigation would be part of it. But around the first death I decided that the second Season should be the Investigation alone instead of moving on to Clue FX (which is looking to be 3 or 4 at this new story-arc-pacing I've done) I want the characters all together in a Hotel as their emotions/differences bubble over.

The only things I will admit or say on the matter of the killer and the questions I've received: Season 1 and 2 have the same killer. My rule for writing murder mysteries in general is that either 1 or 2 people are involved in the actual murder. I will never, ever write more than killer/accomplice.

( Yvette and Plum were meant to appear in this episode for interrogations, but the B Story took too much time. They'll be the first two scenes of Episode 15)
