The Clue Limited Collector's Edition price has been cut in half at Restoration Hardware. Now's your chance to get it for only $79.49.
This could spell the end of this particular edition as such a dramatic price reduction would suggest to me it did not sell well.

EDIT: It is mail order only. I went to a couple of stores and they have been cleared out of inventory. This automatically adds $20 standard shipping to the total, plus tax in your state. _________________

Also, the Frontgate edition in white, appears to have been discontinued already and is no longer available. Perhaps Michael was right and the white tiles were so awful no one wanted it – or at $129 was so popular everybody did.
EDIT I found it sold by another mail-order company that had already dropped the price from $129 to $99 which is already sold out. Clearly it did not sell well either ... _________________

They did? They cut the price in half the day after Christmas!? That's a huge drop. I seriously doubt they sold that well if they have to cut the price in half. Can't imagine why they would bring them back again for another year, especially in a poor economy for "deluxe" items – except it does look like they shouldered some of the manufacturing burden with Frontgate this year. If so, I would expect they'd need a partner again to bring it back.
All I can deduce from that piece of information is that they must be more cheaply made that even they appear, and they expect to sell most of them for less than half of retail – I mean if they did it once, anyone who wanted it would just sit back and wait for them to do it again. And how bad must it feel to be the sucker who paid double for it? Ouch. That's just bad business if you ask me.
EDIT: Ah ... I see where you've been watching this: http://www.theartofmurder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=98068#98068
And you correctly predicted the "assumed price drop"! Do you recall how long it lasted at that price before it was sold out? _________________

I don't care if it's not quite as nice as the real Franklin Mint edition, I still want it.
However, having seen it become "sold-out" last year, only to return this year, and get a price-reduction BOTH years, I'm not too worried about never having one. I'll work over the summer, have some money to spend for Christmas 2001, and "Santa" will bring this game to me. _________________ Avatar: the logo for the Broadway musical adaptation of CARRIE. |

I unfortunately do not remember how long it lasted. I do remember not biting the bullet and buying it last year and feeling dismayed when it vanished from their site! I will make sure to buy it this time around. |

Quadsworth, per my earlier assumption, Restoration Hardware is now sold out of Monopoly. However, unlike Clue, the Monopoly price drop was nowhere near as dramatic. Both Clue and Monopoly sold for $159. However, Monopoly dropped by only $48 to $110.99 and sold out within a week. Clue dropped $80 and is still in stock. _________________

20% OFF DISCOUNT CODE:
Just got a catalogue in the mail with a promotional discount code which they say is good on all merchandise in store or online until January 4th.
It's RPVT101 which I think you just enter on checkout. Worth a shot and makes the game only $59.60 + shipping. _________________

Ahhhh! That's false advertising to lure a person in! It says good on ALL merchandise and there are sale items in the catalogue! LOL _________________

Here's something interesting. This guy who was selling the Frontgate boards on eBay, tipping us off to their existence, is now selling what appears to be the Restoration Hardware boards. What's interesting is that it uses the exact same description as the Frongate boards, indicating tempered glass, which the RH edition has Plexiglass, and a faux leather storage box, the RH edition being cardboard. Also, RH is still selling theirs for $79.49 + a flat $14 shipping cost – a total of about $100, incl. sales tax. He is selling his for $139 + $20 shipping. The original price was $159. _________________

The Restoration Hardware Premiere Scrabble edition that was also selling for $79.49 has sold out, leaving Clue as the only remaining boardgame. Wonder how long it will take Clue to sell out. One thing's for sure, time is running out. _________________

Here's the new online checkout code to get an ADDITIONAL 10% off already marked down items, good through the end of February:
RCTD102
This reduces the price of the game to $71.54. Albeit, not a huge savings. Considering it is the last of the deluxe board games left in stock, there might be further price drops. Definitely not selling very well. _________________

Clue finally sold out at Restoration Hardware.
Took 2 months to get rid of 'em. Wonder if they will bring it back next year?
FOr those of you who were waiting, they turn up on eBay, NIB, weekly. However, they seem to be charging the original $150 price (that's what you get for waiting!) ... search for Clue+wooden. _________________
