I've been thinking for a while of making a board game spinoff or ATWI8C, but it doesn't want to work out...

Well, I did get started on trying to make an ATWI8C board. Below is a rather small version of what I've actually been doing. It's still missing a few elements (two suspect spaces are still blank), and I blurred one thing out. Basically, I took the 96 board, removed the rooms, put two boards together, removing two rooms near the middle, made the middle logos into blank spaces (which would become locations), thus having 16 "rooms". Then, I tried adding spaces. However, it quickly became clear that the look of the tiles was standing out. So, to remedy this, I removed all the brown tiles (except the shadows) and put a map of the world underneath, thus adding to the "around the world" aspect. It took me a long time, and I've still got a long way to go. But before I do so, any thoughts?

I really like it. I like how it looks like an extended version of the mansion.

It could use a lot of work, but it's good so far. :)

I think you should move rome or paris and make that shape all one location...

I'll think about it, but for there to be 16, there needs to be another location somewhere. That way, I thought it looked roughly balanced out with what was on the bottom.

EDIT: Also, I just noticed that two rooms have different coloured lettering. This must've happened when I pressed "Print Screen" for some reason. It is not like that in the file itself.

Looks good so far. I think you should just get rid of the brown shadows though. They really aren't necessary, especially considering that these aren't actual rooms.

A slightly corrected version, with cacums' suggestion implemented:

The tricky part about that is removing the shadows without removing the square itself, since it's such a close colour with the square outline.

Oh, I see. Couldn't they just be cut out manually?

I'm going to try this: I'll do the board all over again, but with my own squares and such, alotting such-and-such amount of space per room. Using the wonderful world of math, I think I might be able to make this work.

Whoops! Forgot to label it. It's Hong Kong.

Miss Scarlet obviously needs some work, but they all could.

I'm not a huge fan of the look, but it's decent.

Anyhow, I finally made my own little replica of the Clue board (although in a different direction). This means the ATWI8C board will have a different design:
