I cannot remember if we have a thread for that Clue documentary that's being made, but I wanted to share this! They posted it today

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cppGd0ppvFQ

They are looking to animate the fourth ending and my body is ready!
A new thread was created for it here, just before the Russian spambot attack, or you would have seen it..

There’s actually another thread that has the announcement of the documentary, but I’ve discovered the search feature does not seem to work prior to the switch to the new forum. I believe I have seen this with other sites who have changed forums as well in that it’s impossible to search anything from the old database.

Anybody looking to find a specific thread prior to this update should use google like this:
Site:theartofmurder.com documentary
And voila the thread I was looking for:

Here's a old ViewPoint project I did during the eighth grade.

Was trying to search for the topic in which we discuss Clue Games appearing in media. I can't remember the title or any of the proper keywords. Anyone remember?

The topic I found is “Clue in the media”, but it’s an old thread. There’s also “Clue / Cluedo Sightings” but neither are the thread I remember. I thought there was a mention of Sherlock use of Cluedo in an episode but I wasn’t able to find that at all.

Have you ever noticed that in the 1996 edition, in the Dining Room on the China cabinet there's a lone Candlestick on one side. But on the other side there's a bare circle of dust on it to imply that the other one was taken away. It's details like that that makes Clue so great

That's a detail I do like. It's a shame so much of the rest of the board is bland.

I used to think the Rope was cut from the curtain pull in the Lounge.

Does anyone know if Inspector Brown was ever given a first name?

His first name is Winfield. It's in the instruction book for the 2002 edition, on the page with the Police Report, in the paragraph subtitled "Mansion Searched" in the Daily Echo article.

This doesn’t really need its own thread, so I figured I’d put it here: Target has put the retro edition games on sale, or at least some of them. Anyone who wants the 1986 reproduction Clue game can grab it for just under $15 USD (about 29% off MSRP, according to the web listing).

Is there a pdf of the Cluedo Detect-your-self online, and if there is, where can I find it?

Does anyone know where the massive timeline of events in the Clue lore is?

Found a Dutch "Cluedo Live" edition, the one with 4 playable characters (Grey, Azure, Peach and Lavender) and a computer, if that makes sense to anyone... It was second-hand, 5 euros and complete, but I decided to leave it in the store.

Ooh, you should definitely go back for it if you can. Clue FX/Cluedo SFX (or Live, as some other countries dubbed it) is easily one of the best spin off editions ever produced. You’ll just want to check there’s no corrosion in the battery compartment, as that will render the board completely useless. Salvageable though. I made the mistake of leaving my copy in storage for YEARS with batteries still in it. A little Googling, cleaning & patience later, it works perfectly now (and I made **** sure to take the batteries out before putting it away this time!).

That's good luck. Acids from the battery can eat their way in and affect the rest of the electronics as well.

There are two reasons why I decided to put it back:
-I decided to limit my collecting to Dutch editions with the English names. In the mid 90s, Parker decided to translate the names. Mw De Wit (White) and Dominee Groenewoudt (Reverend Green) are allright but Rosa Roodhart (Scarlett, a name like the Dutch Care Bear Cousins), Professor Pimpel(Plum) and Mw Blaauw van Draet (Peacock) don't really help the game's atmosphere, mildly put.

-I'm not too enthusiastic about the gameplay mechanics.

Professor Pimpel!!!

That is tragic. For me, though, it’s the mechanics of FX that make it such an ideal choice, especially since nobody in charge of the game has ever devised a more satisfying way to play the classic game* with just 2 players. With 8 cards not dealt out to the players, and having to track down each suspect for an “interrogation”, it’s immensely more satisfying than the ghost hand or dealing cards around the rooms.

The voice acting isn’t anything special, and the technology of the early 2000s renders most of it very garbled from the board’s little speaker (which is permanently set to LOUD LOUD LET’S MAKE SURE YOU CAN HEAR THIS STATIC FROM THE OTHER ROOM). But it’s charming. The interrogation mechanic could even easily be reimplemented by anyone with duplicate standard Clue/do sets, though someone more clever than me would have to figure out how to appropriately move the suspects around the house in lieu of a computer shuffling them around the board.

*Note: when I say “classic game,” I mean a game retaining the basic elements of 3 concealed cards, pawn movement, suggestions, and a logic based process of elimination. Other Clue/do games may also be perfectly playable by only 2 players (Super Cluedo Challenge/Passport to Murder, Clue/do Mysteries, the VCR/DVD games, and Super Sleuth come to mind), but none of them adhere to these basic elements, either through being completely different games under the branding, or by inserting more complex mechanics to offer up a very different kind of logic puzzle.
