Clue Virtual Mansion game

Post by Depboy » Thu Feb 19, 2009 12:10 am

Don't know if anyone has seen this yet, but on the official Hasbro website for Clue, the Virtual Mansion link is now active. It's a pretty lame game, where you go around the board and click on the rooms and find "clues" and then try and solve the mystery. It took me all of ten minutes to figure it out.

Well, that was a complete waste of 5 minutes.

Yeah, it sucked. Hard to believe it took them this long to make THAT!

The solution doesn't change.

I find it hard to believe that even a child would find that challenging. They mention one suspect, and that ridiculous "this room is clean thing" and show you the weapons. For the last two, it's just a matter of elimination. To find out whodunnit, it's probably the ONLY suspect mentioned.

Although the mystery bit is a complete, blasphemous to Clue, waste of time, the view of the mansion is sort of neat. But please, my 6 year old sister would have no trouble solving this!

I would have preferred to see a Virtual recreation of the original Clue mansion.

But you can. With Murder at Boddy Mansion (and Clue Classic, too? I don't know, I haven't played it). So everyone wins.

After the way they botched up Cluedo, I little expected this! Only the graphics of the mansion were first rate.

"This room has been cleaned. No murder happened here."
This was crap. Us on here could've written a better mystery than that!

Thank God I solved it in record time! It took ten minutes (probably because I was enjoying the mansion...)

And of course, the notes scattered round the house blatantly reveal the suspect! Oh yes, and I cursed furiously whenever I found that wretched feather duster about the place! That blatantly revealed the location as well!

This has managed to make me hate the reinvention even more. The room views are bizarre! The only room that has a window is the "observatory". The observatory seems a lot more like a study with a child's toy telescope stuck in it. Really, with that telescope, one might be able to see their neighbor's yard, and that's about it. Certainly not suitable for a millionaire. The trophy should have been in the Hall (on the trophy shelf), the pistol in the desk drawer, bat on the patio (I guess  ), etc. It was also a bad idea to include two more candlesticks in the dining room. I see no need for the big screen TV in the living room with the theater next door. Sorry, these are starting to become nitpicks for the reinvention in general, I'll stop.

Ugh. This whole thing feels like People magazine. A murder in a mansion being "scandalous?" How cute. It's usually those kind of people who don't play board games anyway.

(Quadworth, I think the bat would be kept in the Observatory. Ready at hand to smash the telescope when the owner realizes what a cheap piece of equipment they own.)
