Re: Knives Out (2019 murder mystery film)

I really loved it.

It reminded me of the CLUE movie. Very similar sensibility. Kind of slow moving by today’s standards, but well crafted. The casting is amazing and the character palette is right out of Clue. There’s even an explicit reference to Clue in the movie.

Re: Guess Who Clue, Hasbro mashups

I just picked up the game on a Target pre-Black Friday sale for $15. It’s still a little pricey for an extra set of cards, but I now see there are lots of extra “instructional” cards that can be reused for other purposes, and even for the “bonus” cards if you use those in a clue game. All things con...

Re: Clue Rustic “Farmhouse” Edition — Yee haw

The wooden weapons really don’t have enough contrast between them to easily tell them apart. Perhaps in a brightly lit room, this wouldn’t be a problem, but even in this well lit photo they’re not that distinct. Add to that most wont be viewing directly overhead but at an angle and they become harde...

Re: Clue North Pole Edition

Here's the box artwork scanned. It's really just exceptional artwork and theme for such a cheaply made game. Considering the effort here, a Christmas tin would have been appropriate.

Re: Clue Rustic “Farmhouse” Edition — Yee haw

Finally picked up a copy of this. A couple of disappointing observations. The rustic sepia-tone rough hewn look of everything is appreciated, but a little too liberal. The board and cards are both printed on uncoated brown paper — while giving the game an authentic rustic look, it gives the two part...

Re: Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas Clue

Picked this up. A couple of observations: The box has a plastic insert to hold the parts. It’s reminiscent of the high quality boxes that have always been a hallmark of the Cluedo editions. I also got the Scooby Doo 50th anniversary edition reissue and it likewise has the plastic insert. I have to g...

Detective Notepad Preferences

The current editions of the game have the Suspects, Weapons, and Locations all in alphabetical order. But is this the best way to present it? Previous editions have ordered the locations in a clockwise, or counterclockwise order, starting usually from the Hall. Suspects generally start with Scarlett...

Re: Cluedo Harry Potter collector edition 2019

How is this different than the 2011 DTS World of Harry Potter Harry Potter edition?

viewtopic.php?t=5298

What makes it a Collector edition? It's in a White Box instead of a Red or Blue one?

Re: Marmalade Game Studio's Clue(do)

Heck, I'd like them to deliver on the tropical island premise we anticipated by their marketing here ...

I'm a little sad that we're probably not going to get to see any licensed themes, as this would be the perfect opportunity to trot out the GILLIGAN'S ISLAND theme ...

Ha. Now that’s a sanitized game of Cluedo. Sadly just another cheap WinningMoves.UK edition.

Re: A new to-go game?

So I was on Instagram when I found this... It looks like a new to-go game. https://www.instagram.com/p/B5Af_iqpMxV/?igshid=y69t692h2oxk It doesn’t really seem all that portable. This isn’t likely a Game-to-Go so much as a regular edition in a custom tin. EDIT: after reading more about it in Peacock...

Re: Clue North Pole Edition

Remember this new chocolate tin edition that came out last year? http://www.theartofmurder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6894 I don’t know if anyone ever found one, but this is the kind of treatment this holiday edition deserves. In fact, why not make it a chocolate edition? So much effort executed...

Re: Clue North Pole Edition

The Sleigh Room definitely looks like it could have been intended as a functional room at some point in the development of this game - if they are going to have a singular room as the start location, it makes more sense to me to have that room be the central one (it can be the denouncement room as ...

Re: Clue North Pole Edition

RULES and MOVEMENT: Hasbro seems to be instituting a new rule with these editions -- you my stay in the room you're in after you roll the dice, and guess again in that location. Has that rule been implemented in any of the standard editions? Also, I have a few issues with the way the Sleigh Room and...

Re: Clue North Pole Edition

Darn, it is too bad that they went so cheap as this looks cute and like it would be a nice little holiday themed game - at least the flimsy cards means that it might be easy to make your own cards and slip in without it being too obvious, as I too would look at making the sleigh shed and the 'start...

Re: Clue North Pole Edition

Finally here’s a presentation of the whole game setup for play. I’ve included a Sharpie and a regular edition Clue card for size reference. The pawns are essentially full-sized, and don’t really fit on the start space, and are a bit too large for the spaces as well. The weapons are massive. The dice...

Here's the unboxing: All of the parts are stacked. Note the weapons must be separated from the plastic frame, as well as the cards separated. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49066377463_4f7fd9fc97_o.jpg Note that even though there's one extra card space on the template, instead of giving an extr...

Re: Marmalade Game Studio's Clue(do)

Murder by Death hit on a lot of the same criticisms I have for this one - if it’s just the boat, have it be a Mystery at Sea type situation, if it’s going to be Tropical then it would have been nice if it had used actual tropical locations. I have a feeling the tropical angle is in part to have som...
