Re: Guess Who Clue, Hasbro mashups

I might pick up a copy this afternoon. I’m very interested to see if the deck of cards (the larger ones you’d draw from & have to guess to win) form a complete deck (namely, are all 9 standard rooms accounted for). If so, all anyone needs is a set of colored pawns to match & a poison token from anot...

Re: First Mrs. White, then the Hall, is the Lead pipe next?

The answer the original question: I hope so. The poison should have been given full time status decades ago (like, from the beginning. What was Pratt/Waddington’s logic in dropping it after the patent was filed?). Hasbro can (and will) tinker with their classics as often as they see fit/want to. Now...

Guess Who Clue, Hasbro mashups

Didn’t see a post about this yet, so: Hasbro has launched another Target exclusive series of games. This time it’s mashups of their popular brands into some charming party games. Twister Scrabble. Jenga Monopoly. Of interest to us: Guess Who Clue . But look closely at the promo image & you’ll spot t...

Re: Anybody In Atlanta Go To This?

Yes, I did! I’d forgotten I’d started a thread about before it ran its course (probably got lost in the shuffle with all the spam). It was, in short, absolutely pitch-perfect fantastic! I’m tired tonight, but in the morning I’ll dig out the few photos I snapped while I was there & provide some more ...

Re: New Clue Dr. Orchid 2nd Edition with Card Revealing Mirror

Not that I need to buy another copy of this, but has anyone else found this new edition in their local shops? I’ve only seen it on Amazon — none of my local big box & department stores are carrying anything except Clue Jr and a handful of copies of the square box edition (and my Target isn’t even ke...

Re: New Clue Dr. Orchid 2nd Edition with Card Revealing Mirror

Just so y'all know, this edition is currently on sale on Amazon for $10! Happy Cyber Monday! :D Ugh. With Free shipping!? Now I may have to buy it :( Haha, doo it! I’m kicking myself a bit for not waiting a little longer & saving another $5. $10 is definitely a much more sensible price for this edi...

Most likely just the Canadian release from the last round of book-box vintage games. The English-French labeling is a bit of a giveaway there.

Re: Clue's 70th anniversary

Maybe bringing back Mrs. White?? :D I think Dr. Orchid is here for the long run, or at least another 5 — 10 years. What would be a really shining tribute for the 70th anniversary would be a single game with the current suspect lineup plus fresh depictions of the auxiliary characters from MD/Super C...

Re: Clue's 70th anniversary

I certainly hope so! They’ve marked every anniversary for Monopoly, and completely botched Clue(do)’s 60th by trying to “reinvent” the game. A brand new, truly deluxe edition would be most welcome (meaning not another rehash/mashup of the vintage editions and/or Franklin Mint editions. Something ACT...

Re: Which was the best mansion?

Ditto for Tudor Mansion. The exterior actually tries to match up with the interior (and mostly succeeds, I think), and I will never not love the expanded terrain & world building offered up in FX and Mysteries. Pushed further to pick a favorite depiction, I tip my hat to the board from the DVD game ...

Re: New Clue Dr. Orchid 2nd Edition with Card Revealing Mirror

My best guess at this point is that this will be marketed as a “deluxe” alternative to the small box edition, much like how Monopoly and Monopoly Electronic Banking are sold alongside each other in lieu of one replacing the other. And entirely for the reason you brought up: American consumers love t...

Re: New Clue Dr. Orchid 2nd Edition with Card Revealing Mirror

Revealing the solution to other players is as simple as turning the mirror towards them & holding down the button so it lights up. I can’t figure why the mirror seems so complex to you, though. It has 3 slots for 3 cards. Insert them in the order shown (the back has icons for Suspect, Weapon, and Ro...

Re: New Clue Dr. Orchid 2nd Edition with Card Revealing Mirror

Got mine today & finally had a chance to sit down & look at it. To start, here’s the extent of the “damage” that saved me about $6: https://i.postimg.cc/Ny5NFmM1/B7-C4-EB46-C35-D-4663-A8-FB-D99-F3688-BB21.jpg So I think I’ll keep it, lol. Re: New Clue Dr. Orchid 2nd Edition with Card Revealing Mirror

I found this new edition listed on Amazon . Just ordered a copy for $14.26 ($15.26 after the $1 tax) — closer to what I think an edition like this should be retailing for, rather than upwards of $20 (after sales tax). The caveat is that I opted to buy one of the few being offered as a discounted Ama...

Re: New Clue Dr. Orchid 2nd Edition with Card Revealing Mirror

I do think the new Detetive game should have been considered for inspiration in updating the main Clue game. Aesthetically I don’t love all of Estrela’s choices, but mechanically I love what they’ve done with it, especially with the easy & optional integration of additional suspects & weapons, and a...

Re: New Clue Dr. Orchid 2nd Edition with Card Revealing Mirror

To be fair, re the knife: if you look closely you can just make out two hooks around the knife, holding to the wall for display. I still think it’s a fairly uninspired redesign, but I do appreciate how it almost harkens back to the 72-92 box covers now that the suspects & weapons are in an actual ro...

Re: New Clue Dr. Orchid 2nd Edition with Card Revealing Mirror

I would imagine the mirror unit opens from the back, and the cards are loaded in a particular order, probably with some kind of notches to ensure they’re aligned properly. It does look tall enough to display the text at the bottom of each card if they’re fanned vertically inside the unit. As for how...
